Benninghoff Praises Stable Higher Education Funding in Governor’s Budget Proposal
HARRISBURG – Following the governor’s budget address today in the state Capitol, state Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) issued the following statement:

“I support the governor’s efforts in this budget to provide stable funding for our higher education institutions. Providing level funding for our universities while securing a commitment from them to hold tuition increases to a minimum is good for faculty, parents and students.

“The governor’s budget proposal begins a long and important process. In the weeks and months ahead, the Legislature will hold hearings to dig deeper into the details of the governor’s proposal. This will give the public the opportunity to weigh in on the proposals and push for changes as it sees fit.

“I am committed to enacting a budget that adheres to the principles of fiscal responsibility and common sense.

“The governor today and in the recent past outlined significant proposals for transportation funding, public pension reforms and liquor store privatization. Each of these proposals will be extensively reviewed by the Legislature as we move forward.

“I look forward to working with my colleagues in the House and Senate to work toward a final budget that meets the needs of Pennsylvania residents.”
