House Policy Committee to Accept Testimony on Job Readiness, Job Creation

WHAT: In an effort to ensure Pennsylvania students are equipped with the skills they need to succeed after graduation, Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin), chairman of the House Majority Policy Committee, together with Rep. Stephen Bloom (R-Cumberland), will host a public hearing tomorrow, March 11, on career preparedness and job creation.
 
Attending Republican House members will hear testimony from state and local associations, Central Pennsylvania employers and a current high school student regarding the readiness of Pennsylvania’s graduates to fill in-demand and available job openings, whether or not there is a job/skills gap in Pennsylvania and workforce development.
 
WHO: Benninghoff and Bloom will be joined by several Republican House members from across the state. Testifiers will include representatives from the PA Workforce Development Association, Greater Carlisle Chamber of Commerce, Carlisle High School’s Center for Careers & Technology, Allen Distribution, Geisinger Health System (Holy Spirit Hospital) and CampusDoor.
 
WHEN: Wednesday, March 11, from 9:30 a.m. to noon.
 
WHERE: Apfelbaum Family Courtroom and Auditorium, Room 029, Lewis Katz Hall, Dickinson School of Law, 150 S. College St., Carlisle.
