Benninghoff Announces Community Conservation Grant Awards

HARRISBURG– State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) today announced that three municipalities in the 171st Legislative District will receive funding from the Community Conservation Partnerships Program (CCPP), administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

“I am always pleased to bring tax dollars back to Centre and Mifflin counties,” Benninghoff said. “These projects will benefit all residents of the district by encouraging tourism and continuing to improve the quality of life in our communities.”

The following municipalities will receive funding:

Centre County
• Bellefonte Borough, $55,000: Rehabilitation and further development of Talleyrand Park. Work to include restoration of Spring Creek, construction of a pergola, rehabilitation of pedestrian pathways, ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.
• Ferguson Township: $52,200: Rehabilitation of Louis E. Silvi Baseball Complex. Work to include construction of access drive, sidewalks and pavilion/concession facility, ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.

Mifflin County
• Brown Township: $40,000: Rehabilitation of Reedsville Park. Work to include renovation of a pavilion, installation of play equipment with required safety surfacing, ADA access, landscaping, project signage and other related site improvements.

The CCPP program provides financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofits for planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenway projects. The program is funded with both state and federal dollars.
