Hershey, Benninghoff Plan Hunting Seminar
1/27/2020
HARRISBURG – Reps. John Hershey (R-Mifflin/Juniata/Franklin) and Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) will host a seminar about Chronic Wasting Disease and other issues affecting hunters.

The seminar is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, at Rec Park, 108 Montgomery Ave., Lewistown.

Speakers for the event include Courtney Colley, a CWD communications specialist for the Pennsylvania Game Commission, and Mifflin County Game Warden Amanda Isett.

“The spread of CWD in Pennsylvania is alarming. Infected deer do not display clinical symptoms, such as listlessness or repetitive walking patterns, for 18 to 24 months, so we may not yet know how the disease is affecting this region,” Hershey said.

Disease Management Areas in Pennsylvania include parts or all of Franklin, Juniata, Mifflin and Centre counties.

“This free event for hunters is going to be informative and engaging,” Benninghoff said. “Everyone who attends will leave with practical takeaways about how we can keep our great outdoors healthy and our wildlife plentiful for our children and grandchildren.”

Those planning to attend should RSVP to Hershey’s office at 717-436-6001 or Benninghoff’s office at 814-355-1300.
