HARRISBURG - As residents in Centre County and across the Commonwealth continue to deal with illegible license plates, state Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) is again partnering with the Pennsylvania State Police to host another event to help get those plates replaced.
“State law requires PennDOT to replace standard license plates that are deemed illegible at no cost to the vehicle owner,” Benninghoff. “I encourage residents whose plates are worn and difficult to read to take advantage of the opportunity to get the replacement process started.”
The event is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12, from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Centre Hall Elementary School,
211 N. Hoffer Ave., Centre Hall.
A registration plate is deemed illegible when one or more numbers or letters cannot be recognized from 50 feet or if the registration plate shows any blistering, peeling, discoloration or loss of reflectivity.
Those who plan to attend should bring their vehicle with the affected plate attached, along with their unexpired PA driver’s license and current vehicle registration card.
Questions about this or any legislative issue should be directed to Benninghoff’s Bellefonte district office at 814-355-1300 or his Reedsville office at 717-667-1175.
