HARRISBURG – State Sen. Judy Ward (R-30) and state Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) today announced $650,000 in Local Share Amount (LSA) grants for three Mifflin County municipalities.

“I’m glad Sen. Ward and I were able to work together to secure this highly competitive funding for the citizens we serve in Mifflin County,” said Benninghoff. “These grants are important investments in the safety and quality of life for residents of all ages.”

The local grant recipients include:

• Armagh Township - $200,000 for the purchase of a new boom mower.

• Granville Township - $150,000 for the purchase of a new boom mower.

• Lewistown Borough - $300,000 for cleaning of sewer lines and inspection of manholes.

“The statewide LSA grant program is a vital tool for municipalities as they seek to improve or repair critical water, sewer, or transportation infrastructure or meet other unique needs,” Ward added. “While the grants are very competitive and not all projects are able to be funded, the projects funded this round are well-deserving and will improve quality of life for the local communities.”

The grants were approved and awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, which was established as an independent agency that holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth. LSA grants are derived from gaming revenues.
