Benninghoff, Dush to Host Paper Shredding Event

June 11, 2025

HARRISBURG – State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) and Sen. Cris Dush (R-25) invite residents of Centre County to take advantage of the shredding event they are hosting on Saturday, June 21, from 8-11 a.m. at the Centre County Recycling and Refuse Authority, 253 Transfer Road, Bellefonte.

“When you simply throw old tax returns or paperwork containing your personal information out with the trash, you run the risk of having your identity stolen,” Benninghoff said. “Events like the one Sen. Dush and I are hosting offer you a free opportunity to safely dispose of your valuable belongings.”

Items to be disposed of should be placed in the trunk of your car or truck bed of your vehicle in a container like a box or paper bag. Authority employees will unload the paper, shred it on-site and then treat it to be reused.

“Identity theft can lead to financial losses, damage to your credit score, and other serious problems,” added Dush. “Thieves can open new accounts, make unauthorized purchases, steal your tax refund and even impersonate you in legal situations.”

Cans of non-perishable items will be collected and distributed to local food banks for anyone who wishes to contribute.
