Benninghoff Praises Plan to Keep Bellefonte Fish Hatchery Open

HARRISBURG – Following the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s announcement that it has found a way to keep open the Bellefonte Fish Hatchery in Centre County despite earlier plans to shut down the operation, Rep. Kerry Benninghoff (R-Centre/Mifflin) issued the following statement:

“Keeping the Bellefonte Fish Hatchery open is good news for Pennsylvania anglers and the employees who work there.

“This is a positive example of how we can achieve shared goals when people come together to work toward finding a solution.  Constituents are looking for officials who can put differences of opinion aside and work together for the benefit of the residents they serve.

“I applaud the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission’s work to identify a workable solution that maintains fiscal responsibility while also ensuring the Bellefonte Fish Hatchery will continue to serve Commonwealth anglers.  I am committed to working with the Fish and Boat Commission in the future on other initiatives to meet the needs of Pennsylvania’s fishing and boating communities.”
