Rep. Kerry Benninghoff’s (R-Centre/Mifflin) Bellefonte district office is closed today due to an overnight fire in the building that houses the office.
The fire was not started and did not enter Benninghoff’s office, located at 209 South Allegheny Street. The lawmaker’s office is being closed due to water damage that resulted when the fire was put out.
“I’m grateful that none of my staff members were in the building at the time of the fire,” Benninghoff said. “My heart goes out to the people who live in the housing above our office. This is just a sad situation, especially around the holidays.”
Benninghoff’s Bellefonte district office will be closed until further notice. Residents who need help with state government issues may contact Benninghoff’s Harrisburg office at 717-783-1918. They may also contact Benninghoff by e-mail at KBenning@pahousegop.com.
For any additional information about the fire or its cause, reporters are encouraged to contact local fire department officials.
